A subdomain is a part of a web address that is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. Actually, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain can have its own site and records and can even be hosted through a different provider if you need to use a certain feature which isn't offered by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. You can even have a forum in which they can comment on the products and by employing subdomains as opposed to subfolders you'll avoid any risk of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your sites separated is more secure in the case of a script security breach.
Subdomains in Shared Web Hosting
Our shared web hosting packages will permit you to set up numerous subdomains for any domain name hosted in your account without any problem. If the main domain is added, it will take 2 clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), set custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains which you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Using our semi-dedicated server plans, you are going to be able to create an unlimited number of subdomains for any of the domains you add as hosted in the account. It takes a couple of clicks to set up a new subdomain and in the process you are going to be able to add custom-made error pages for it, pick if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP address, change the default folder that it'll access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you've got within the account will be arranged under their root domain in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to see and manage all of them with ease. Using instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll also be able to jump to the site files inside the File Manager area or view logs, visitor stats and other information about any of your subdomains.
